Tyrone Power Oversize Inscribed & Signed Photos
Tyrone Power Oversize Inscribed & Signed Photos - Considered by many to be the most handsome leading man in film history, Tyrone Power burst on the stage and screen in the early 1930's, and continued an astonishing successful career until his very untimely death at age 44. He was unusual in not only being almost other-worldly beautiful, but also had enormous grace and talent. Perhaps some of that is due to the fact that he was actually related to the greatest actor who ever lived: Laurence Olivier. He was obviously sought after by virtually any women who came near him and for years was known as Hollywood's most eligible bachelor. He married French actress Annabelle in 1939 which only lasted a few years. From there he had many love affairs with famous actresses of the day, including Judy Garland and Lana Turner. After another marriage and many affairs, he married Deborah Ann Minardos which sadly lasted less than a year before when he died. However through all this, his real secret love was for Evie Lynn Abbott, who married both actors Kennan Wynn and Van Johnson. She was alluring, charming, bright and sparkling and was the darling of Hollywood. Tyrone continued to be her close friend his entire life, and was seen often at gatherings with the Wynn's and the Johnson's. He made it quite clear to her, that she was the one he truly loved. However circumstances continued to keep his love for Evie from begin consummated. He never stopped writing beautiful notes to her. These are two extremely rare oversized original studio publicity photographs of Tyrone. He inscribed both of them with his obvious undying love. The first reads: "For Darling Eve, Who always & ever will be darling Eve - Tyrone", and the other says: "For my darling Eve, with every fond wish my heart can hold, always, Tyrone". These very personal and heartfelt inscribed and signed photos were given to Evie in the early 1950's and she kept them in her personal collection until the day she passed away in 2004. The signed and inscribed photos come directly from Van Johnson's personal collection, and includes a Letter of Provenience from the Johnson’s daughter, Schuyler Johnson along with a copy of her famous controversial cover story article “My Life As A Hollywood Princess”, about her trials and tribulations growing up in Beverly Hills with a superstar father and extended “family” with some of the most famous celebrities in the world. The photos are 11"x14". They show signs of natural patina aging, and have some slight tears on the surface.
