Tyler and Harrison Presidential Peace Medals
Property being sold is not new! Dents, dings, scratches and other damage may be present—and is common—on used and vintage items. Items are available for preview well in advance of the auction and we take several pictures as well. Please inspect thoroughly PRIOR to bidding. Once auctioneer says “SOLD” Buyer assumes all responsibility for items.
For sale in this lot are two Presidential peace medals (Tyler and Harrison). One is strung on a cord with beads. During colonization, European nations issued the earliest peace medals to build alliances and negotiate with tribes. Medals were given to Natives by the British, French and Spanish in the eighteenth century as sentiments of peace, often in conjunction with other gifts. This practice continued under American Presidents throughout the 1800s. This one is a late 1800s restrike. Maker: Unknown.  Approx. Age: Late 1800s. Size: 3 inches round. Fits a 11-1/2 inch neck. Pendant measures 2-3/8 inches wide X 3 inches long. Condition: Good for their ages, wear expected. Please look closely at the pictures - they are an important part of our description. Shipping: There will be a $5 handling / packaging fee for shipping this lot. The actual cost of postage will be added on top of that. BUY IT NOW: If you would like to buy this item now without waiting for the auction to end (this option is only available up to 48 hours before the auction starts to close), the “Buy it Now” price is the high estimate of this lot. If you would like to end the auction early and pay the high estimate (plus applicable fees), please contact us by phone or email and reference this lot number.
