1) Pony Express bronze plaque by Alexander Phimister Proctor (Amer. 1862-1950). This plaque was commissioned for the 50th anniversary of the start of the Pony Express by Wells Fargo in 1910. The plaque depicts a cowboy rider on a fast horse galloping to the next relay station. The plaque is signed lower center by Proctor under the Pony Express logo. The plaque measures 17" in diameter and weighs 12 pounds. In very good condition. This bronze is featured in the Bergmann Bronze Books Vol. 4 pp.1184 & 1185, Number 4759. Great depiction of a company that only lasted 15 months. 2) Pony Express Centennial bronze plaque of the 3 Founders & The Trail That The Riders Conquered by Marian Brackenridge (Amer. 20th century) This Centennial plaque shows the dates 1860-1861 & 1960-1961. The plaque depicts the founders of the company as well as the lone Pony Express rider on horseback following the route from St. Joseph, Mo to Sacramento, Ca. The plaque is signed underneath the Pony Express logo Marian Breckenridge and the obverse is the foundry stamped Frank Hays Metalworks Sonoma, Ca. The plaque measures 17" in diameter and weighs 12 pounds. In very good condition.
