Two Wermacht Officer Swords
1) German Army officer's sword with a 32" single fuller blade with makers mark on the left ricasso. The sword has a gilt finished lion head hilt, stirrup-shaped knuckle bow lagnets and down-turned quill ion. The knuckle bow and blackstrap are decorated with cast oak leaf designs. The obverse lagnet has a cast Nazi Eagle swastika. The saber has a wire wrapped celluloid grip, and leather portapee with silver wire. The sword has a black painted scabbard with leather and nickel-silver belt hanger. 2) German Army Officer's Sword made by Anton Wingen Jr. of Solingen. The sword has a 31 13/4" single fuller blade with makers mark on the reverse. The hilt has a stirrup-shaped knuckle bow, bird's head pommel, counter-guard with lagnets and cast oak leaf decorations on the knuckle bow and backstrap. The obverse lagnet has a cast eagle and swastika insignia. The grip is black plastic with a twisted, brass, wire wrap. The scabbard has a black enamel finish.

1) The Lion Head sword is excellent, blade is excellent, with 95% or more of the gold plated on the hilt. There is minor fraying of the portapee wire, and some scuffing and paint loss on the scabbard. 2) The Bird's Head sword is in very fine condition. The blade is excellent. The hilt has a mellow age patina. The scabbard has a number of minor scratches.
