Two volume lot containing the ''Annual Report of the State Historian of the State of New York: 1897; 1898.'' Albany, New York: Wynkoop Hallenbeck Crawford Company: 1897-98. First edition. Volumes I and II of the complete Colonial Series measure approximately 6'' x 9'' and give a detailed account of New York's regimental activity in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars; includes muster roll listings, military compensation records and brief biographies of such notable officers as Generals Daniel Sickles, Daniel Butterfield and Governor Kemble Warren. Profusely illustrated with drawings and fold-out maps. Excerpt: ''New York has every reason to feel proud of the services of her sons…and posterity certainly should feel grateful to the 'brave men who gave their lives that the Union might be saved'…'' Blue cloth boards with gilt to spine and New York State seal on cover. Rubbing and wear to boards and slight sunning to backstrips. Volume II shows one inch crease to upper front board and wrinkling to pastedown. Some weakening at hinges, but pages remain tightly bound. More than 2,000pp. of New York military history in very good condition.
