1-2) Strelecki prints from Virginia City. Original art was done in 1927 and 1928. Strelecki was born in Poland and resided in Paris, New York, and Los Angeles. He was known more for his photography, but did paint and sculpt. Strelecki took up his paint brushes and headed for Reno, Nevada, in 1928, where he devoted himself to painting the desert landscape. He resided in Reno nearly two years before he took his stock of paintings to southern California. There he opened an art gallery with Joseph William Hull at the Vista del Arroyo Hotel in Pasadena. He returned to Nevada frequently to paint and consort with his extended family who settled there upon his recommendation. He regularly exhibited and sold his western canvases--particularly his impressionistic studies of Pyramid Lake--in Paris and Los Angeles. 3) Reprint of 1861 view of Virginia City with important landmark buildings around the border.City: Virginia CityCounty: StoreyState: NVDate:
