Comprising a smaller mahogany-veneered rectangular box with ebony-style stringing, round mother-of-pearl corner bosses and diamond cartouche to the lid, together with a larger burr-walnut veneered box with matching mother-of-pearl shield cartouche and escutcheon. Both likely English, Victorian, c. 1860–1885, originally used as work or stationery boxes.

Condition: General surface wear, scratches and small veneer losses consistent with age; one corner chip to the larger box; both lacking keys but structurally sound, mother-of-pearl inlay intact.
