Two US Navy Officers Swords
The First a Naval Offices Straight Sword circa 1830-1840 with a partial blued blade with gilt decoration, Eagle, Anchor and Crest Guard, Wire-Wrapped Shell Hilt with Minerva head pommel and gilt brass hand guard. Unmarked, with leather and brass scabbard. Blade has areas of brown and black rust, some old polish remains settled on brass, leather is dry. Some wear and use, but overall good+. Together with an M1852 USN Presentation sword with wire-wrapped shagreen hilt. Blade reads: G. A. Padgett Boatswain U.S.N. Presented by Crew off USS Lebanon. No scabbard, areas of light brown powder rust to blade, plate loss on blade, some settled polish on brass mounts, wire wrapping is loose. Signed M.C. Lilley Co. Columbus Ohio.
