1) Christopher Fratin's (1800-1864) falconer on horseback bronze. This classic French animalier bronze depicts a falconer on horseback with a falcon on his right elbow. The falcon has upright wings as in preparation for flight to find his prey. The falconer himself is dressed in 18/19th Century peasant hunting attire with a rifle across his saddle and canteen strapped to the side of his saddle. The bridled horse has a blanketed saddle on him and moving at a gait pace. The horse and rider rests on a bronze grounded base and is custom fitted to a 1 1/2" rectangular black marble plinth. The bronze base is signed "FRATIN". 17"x7"x27". Very good. 2) Frederic Remington's (1861-1909) "Trooper Thanatopis." Classic American sculptur of a full dressed regimental enlisted man in cavalry attire ready to mount his horse after he just viewed a skull of a trooper that he may have known. The horse is a full cavalry steed with all the military trappings of that era. 23"x12"x9". A hard to find bronze. Very good.
