Blade front and 1879 pattern rear sights, with "V/ P/ eagle head/ P" mark on the left rear of the barrel, "U.S./ MODEL/ 1873" on the low arch breechblock, 3-click tumbler, and a short wrist stock with "S.W.P./ 1883" cartouche, sling swivels and a "US" marked buttplate.

Finish: blue/ casehardened

Condition: Fine, with 50% of the original blue finish on the barrel, and 60% of the finish on the trigger guard, butt plate, and lock. Bright case colors are visible on the protected areas of the breechblock. Fine stock, with exception of a number of scratches and dents, including one on the left side in the shape of a screw head. Mechanically excellent.

B) U.S. Springfield Model 1888 Trapdoor Rifle with Ramrod Bayonet
Blade and "R" marked Buffington rear sights, with the "V/ P/ eagle head/ P" marks on the left rear of the barrel, "US / MODEL / 1884" on the low arch breechblock, and the American Eagle and "U. S. / SPRINGFIELD" on the lock. 3-click tumbler. Smooth straight grip stock, with sling swivels, "SWP / 1891" final inspection cartouche, one piece trigger guard and "US" marked buttplate. With a 35 1/2 inch spike bayonet.
