Spanish Colonial hand-forged iron. Spanish cattleman found controlling wild cattle in rough terrain virtually impossible prior to the development of the skill of roping cattle. These knives were attached to a long pole & were used to "hock" cattle, disable them by cutting the tendons on the rear legs prior to butchering the cattle in the open.
