Two Smith & Wesson Top Break Revolvers A) Scarce Smith & Wesson Second Issue Model 1 1/2 Revolver
Manufactured from 1868 to 1875. This particular revolver has the rare 2 5/8" barrel with the one line address and patent dates on the left side. The serial number is marked on the butt and the matching number is stamped inside the right grip panel. Blade front and notch rear sights, blue finish with casehardened hammer and fitted with smooth two piece rosewood grips.

Condition: Fine. The revolver retains 50% original blue finish mixed with smooth gray patina. There is some minor pitting on the backstrap and barrel, with several minor dings on the bottom of the frame. The hammer retains 60% original case colors with the balance a smooth brownish patina. The grips are good. The right panel retains most of the original varnish with about 20% on the left. There are several small dings on the bottoms and a couple of minor dents on the upper right panel. The markings are clear. The barrel hinge is tight and the action is excellent.

B) Smith & Wesson Model Number 1 2nd Issue Single Action Revolver
Manufactured from 1860 to 1868, this Model 1, 2nd Issue revolver features a blade front and notch rear sights, 7 round un-fluted cylinder, square flared butt, blue barrel and cylinder and silver plated brass frame. The top of the barrel is marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS" and the cylinder is marked with the patent dates. Fitted with smooth two piece grips. The right panel is numbered to the gun.

Condition: Very fine. The cylinder retains 80% original thin blue finish, with some minor oxidation. The barrel has a smooth brownish patina. The frame retains 95% original silver finish which has darkened with age. There is high edge wear and some thinning and minor dings on the side plate. The grips are excellent with 98% original varnish remaining and some minor lower edge wear and a few tiny dings. There is a little bit of play in the barrel hinge. The action is excellent. The markings are crisp and clear.
