A) Produced from 1898 to 1907. Pinned front blade sight, notch rear sight which is part of the T-bar latch, standard two line address/ patent dates on top of the solid fluted barrel rib, caliber marking on the barrel, 5 round auto ejecting cylinder, casehardened trigger, grip safety.

B) Produced between 1888 and 1902, this is the early style Safety Hammerless with the latch being a top strap-mounted button. Blade and notch sights, with the small S&W logo on the right side of the frame, smooth trigger, enclosed hammer, checkered grip strap safety and smooth mother-of-pearl grips. Engraving coverage is over 90%, with scrollwork, striped backgrounds and floral designs.

A) Excellent, with 99% of the original nickel finish, showing light spotting overall, darker spotting around the muzzle, and mild handling marks. The blue and casehardened parts are also excellent, with only minor wear and vivid color. Grips are excellent, with a crisp pattern to the checkering. Mechanically excellent.

B) Custom embellished, with 80% of the gold plating, with bright steel visible along the edges, the sides of the trigger guard and on the grip straps, and some mild handling marks. The oversized grips are excellent, with a scratch on the right panel and mild handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
