Two Single Shot American Derringers -A) Scarce Unmarked Factory Engraved Morgan & Clapp Single Shot
A) Manufactured circa 1864 to 1866 with total quantity estimated at 500. The barrel is without the standard one line address. The frame and left, right and top barrel flats at the breech feature a factory scroll engraving on a punch dot background. Matching serial number on frame and both grips. Blue with gold finished frame.

B) Manufactured circa early 1860s with total quantity estimated at 2100. The top of the rib is marked with the one line address and the two line patent date on the butt. Matching serial number on barrel and frame.

A) Good. The barrel retains traces of faded original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The frame retains scattered traces of original gold finish with the exposed brass having an even aged patina. The frame has some minor pitting (heaviest on the right side and backstrap) with a couple of deep circle indentations on the butt. The varnished grips are poor with some minor dings (mostly on the bottoms) and scratches, with most of the varnish remaining.

B) Fair. The barrel has a smooth dark gray patina with some scattered pin point pitting and limited minor spotting. The brass frame has an even aged patina. The rib has a few minor dings and the front blade sight has been reshaped. Overall the grips are good with a couple absent chips near the frame and some minor dings and scratches. The left panel has been repaired and has a few minor dents. The right panel has a large absent chip on the bottom edge and a couple hairline cracks.
