<Our item number 140907><B>Two Revolutionary War Letters.</B> A pair of autograph letters signed, one by Hezekiah Sabin and one by Augustus Collins, one page each, New Haven and North Haven, Connecticut, 3 and 24 Aug. 1780, both addresed to Captain Jonathan Dayton, 9th Company, 2nd Regiment, CT, regarding the men drafted to fulfill the State of Connecticut&#39;s quota of soldiers for the Continental Army. The first says, in brief: &#34;I am Directed by Col Russel to give Possitive Orders to the Several Capts who have Detached men for the three months Service that have not marcht to bring them on immediately….Se[e] that they march on Monday next so as to be all at Col Russels by two Oclock…&#34; The second, in brief: &#34;Persuant to General Orders of the 10 Instant these are to Require you Forth with to Apprehend all such men as you Drafted for the standing army and have not marched and deliver them to Capt James Hillhouse at New Haven….&#34; Very good; some archival repairs and chipping.
