c. 1842, Pair of Hand-Painted Colorful Reverse Paintings on Glass of Steamboats named “Harrison” and “Webster” being named after William H. Harrison and Daniel Webster, Very Fine.
This impressive, highly detailed mated pair of original Hnad-Painted Decorative Reverse Paintings depict two different early American Side-Paddle Steamboats.

1. The first is named the "Harrison," measuring 10" x 7.5" (by sight), framed to 12.5” x 9.75” in a period wooden frame.

2. The second in this Set is named the "Webster," measuring 8.5" x 6.5" (by sight), and framed to 12.25” x 10.5” in a period wooden frame.

Both have some normal, expected flaking, attesting to their time period and authenticity. The “Webster” having a slightly greater amount. They make a fine historic Set. This pair appears likely created when Daniel Webster served as Secretary of State under President Harrison and Tyler. American made Reverse Paintings were quite popular in the 1800-1870 period.
