This is a rare use of two expresses. Central Overland California & Pikes Peak and the Hinckley's & Company Express Denver City. Both are stamped June 23, 1860. This would be just about the time Hinckley's took over this route and changed the name. The cover enters the U. S. Mail at Leavenworth, Kansas Territory. Addressed to San Hill, Missouri. Validation of this 3c claret 1857 (Scott 26) stamp was authenticated by the Philatelic Foundation in 1976.
