<B>Two-Piece Maryland Belt Plate,</B></I> 56 x 85 mm, cast brass with die-struck tongue showing Maryland state seal, Roman numerals etched on belt loop. Similar to Plate 299 in <I>Confederate Belt Buckles and Plates</B></I> by Steve E. Mullinax. This example does not seem to have been gilt. An older tag attached to the plate notes that it was worn by a George Lewman, who died in 1905. It appears to have been cleaned many years ago.
