A) Produced in the 1850s by William W. Marston, under the Union Arms trade name. Fluted six-barrel cluster, with the bar hammer marked "THE UNION/ ARMS CO." on top, underside blank. "23" is stamped on the barrel and trigger, with "717" on the left side of the backstrap. Engraved nipple shield and frame, with smooth bag shaped grips.

A) Fine, with 30% of the original blue finish overall, strongest in the protected areas, with a mixed brown patina overall, along with scattered light handling marks. Grips are very good, with pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically good.

B) Fair, with 40% of the original blue finish, showing areas of mixed gray patina, scattered light handling marks and spotting. Original blue is strongest on the frame and trigger guard. The striking face of the hammer has been rewelded/ repaired. Grips are revarnished, with some pressure dents and shrinkage. Mechanically very good.
