Two unique and rare signatures from the opera world, Grace Moore and Giovanni Martinelli. Martinelli's signature is dated May 5, 1935, while Moore's is dated 1929 and is an endorsement for the authenticity of her signature. Giovanni Martinelli (1885-1969) appeared in 663 performances at New York's Metropolitan Opera, singing there from 1913 to 1946. Known for his longevity in the opera world, Martinelli, who became Enrico Caruso's successor in dramatic roles, had made his opera debut in 1908 (as the messenger in Aida) and sang his last performance in 1967. In 1912, Martinelli made his Covent Garden debut as Cavaradossi in Tosca (he returned to Covent Garden in 1937).Grace Moore (1898-1947), born Mary Willie Grace Moore, was a lyrical soprano who starred at the Metropolitan Opera. Moore starred in two M-G-M films of the early 1930s before she was fired when she put on too much weight. After Columbia hired her, and Moore, who was dubbed "The Tennessee Nightingale", helped popularize opera in a string of successful productions, including One Night of Love (1934), for which she was nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award.
