A) Excellent Ludwig Loewe Chilean Contract Model 1895 Bolt Action Rifle. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with the Chilean crest on top of the receiver ring and "MAUSER CHILENO MODELO 1895. / MANUFACTURA LOEWE BERLIN" on the sidewall. Matching numbers on the bolt assembly, floor plate, trigger guard, and cleaning rod. Smooth straight grip stock, with matching serial number over a Star of David on the left side near the receiver ring, a clear Chilean crest over "1895" on the buttstock, sling swivels and a flat buttplate.

Condition: Excellent plus. The rifle retains 99% original blue finish with moderate muzzle wear and some minor thinning with a couple patches of gray on the buttplate. The wood is also excellent with some very scattered minor pressure dents, scratches, and dings. Mechanically excellent.

B) Often referred to by collectors as "M96-38" rifle, this is an example of a Model 1896 rifle converted to a Model 1938 short rifle with a straight bolt handle. Top of receiver ring is marked "WAFFENFABRIK, MAUSER OBERNDORF, A/N" over "1899" for the original production date. Matching numbers on receiver, bolt assembly, buttplate, and floor plate. Barrel has importer marking. The right side of the buttstock has a stock disc and a paper sighting chart.

Condition: Refinished. The rifle retains 90% of the blue finish with the balance a smooth plum patina with some streaks of gray on the barrel and some minor muzzle wear. The refinished stock is very good with a wood filled repair near the upper tang and some very scattered minor handling marks with an area of varnish on the right side of the buttstock.
