The top barrel flat is "MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS CO. NEWARK N.J. / PATENTED MARCH 8.1864". The matching serial number is located on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, back strap, arbor pin and wedge. The barrel and cylinder were blue, brass grip frame silver plated and the remaining parts casehardened. Blade front and hammer notch rear sights and fitted with varnished one piece walnut grips.
BBL: 4 inch octagon
Stock:
Gauge: 36 percussion
Finish: blue/casehardened/silver
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 4582
Condition: Very good. The metal surfaces have a dark mottled patina (a bit lighter on the frame), with some scattered areas of minor pitting. The grip frame retains at least 80% original silver with an aged patina on the exposed areas. The grip is fine with much of the original varnish remaining and showing some heavy wear on the right side lower edge and overall scattered minor dings, dents and some minor age cracking at the top on both sides. The engraving around the cylinder panels are visible and the scenes in the ovals are barely visible. The remaining markings are clear. The action is fine.

B) Manufactured circa 1859-1868. Series III, with five shot cylinder, with standard oval panels and patent date marking. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address and the complete matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, wedge, arbor pin and partial number "890" is marked on the back of the cylinder. Blade front and hammer notch rear sights, and fitted with a one piece varnished walnut grip.
BBL: 4 inch octagon
Stock:
Gauge: 36 percussion
Finish: blue/casehardened/silver
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 23890
Condition: Refurbished. The metal surfaces have an artificial grayish mottled patina with some minor pitting on the frame and cylinder. The brass has been polished and remains bright. The cylinder scenes are visible, and the markings are clear. The refinished grip is good plus with varnish remaining, some lower edge wear and overall a few minor dents and dings. The timing is a bit off, otherwise the action functions properly.
