Two MINT Social Security Essay Stamps: $3.00 and $0.50
One 1936 $0.50 dark blue and one $3.00 light brown. Social Security Essays were printed by the Pitney-Bowes Postage Meter Company of Stamford, Connecticut as part of a proposal to Congress whereby adhesive stamps would be used by workers to prove their payment of social security taxes. Appraised by John Reznikoff, president of the University Stamp Company in 1988 as genuine in all respects. These are original gum, never hinged, very fine centering and have a fresh color.
