Two Swords, The first is a katana with a broad configuration and a rather shallow curve, with a black lacquered wood scabbard, gilt-metal guard cast with dragons in crashing waves, a gilt-metal and chased collar with a dragon design, two millet-form ornaments bound onto the hilt, a sting ray leather binding, lacquer wood pommel; the second is a wakizashi with a very shallow curve, with a black lacquered wood scabbard accompanied by a decorative skewer-like implement, a reticulated floral-form metal guard, a gilt-metal and chased collar with a dragon design, two gilt-painted ornaments bound decorated with insects and flowers, a sting ray leather binding, lacquer wood pommel. 19th Century, Longest: 39 1/2 inches (100.3 cm) [Chips to both scabbards, breakage to robe binding to wakizashi, age cracks to sting ray leather binding.
