Mekugi is absent from both blades. 1) Very good. The blade shows areas of etching, spotting and pitting on the lower 9 inches of the blade, concentrated towards the tip, along with 2-3 small chips on the edge. Metal fittings show aged color, with some tearing of the rayskin around the retention clip. Saya shows some paint loss, with a dark patina on the exposed metal and scattered handling marks. 2) Fine, with spotting, scratches and mixed color on the blade, mended cracks on the habaki, mild wear on the tsuka, and the saya shows cracking at the edges and material loss. Missing the tsuba and fittings.
