Location:6270 Este Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio, 45232, United States
a casual portrait of a captain wearing a kepi with the numeral 2, inked Lt. James Warnock/2nd OVI in case behind image, and a fully armed and equipped ruby ambrotype of a private with brass insignia on kepi spelling out Company D., (possibly) 12th NHV. The name R.I. Rankin is inked in the case but could not be found in any permutation. The Official Army Register Volume V confirms James Warnock as captain in the 2nd OVI effective January 31, 1863. Capt. Warnock is not listed in HDS but presumably mustered out with the regiment in October 1864. The 2nd OVI was Anson McCook's regiment and served with distinction in the 14th, 20th, and 4th Corps, Army of the Cumberland.

Condition: The Ohio plate displays scattered tiny abrasions in the field and around the mat opening, still near VG. with average clarity. Housed in separated composition case. The New Hampshire ambrotype with solarization and abrasions around mat opening; strong contrast and sharp clarity, near VG. Housed in complete composition case.
