Two Frontier Pistols - Deringer and Colt. a) Remington ’95 Double Deringer, assembly #147, circa early 1890s, .41 rim fire, 1st type late issue, 3" barrels, 2-piece hard rubber grips. Probably the best known of the small frame large caliber pistols named for Henry Deringer of Philadelphia. Brought to many young Wild West fans by the 1960s TV series, Yancy Derringer. CONDITION: barrels show 95% bright long-ago-redone blue, same with frame but rather than a bright blue it is more muted; both areas show wear from use since refinish, bores have areas of pitting, clear markings, mechanically very good, grips are excellent. b) Colt 1849 pocket Revolver “Frontier Conversion”, ingenious method of turning a percussion revolver into a .32 short single shot. All parts except the fabricated ejector and breech release are from Colt 1849 Pocket #414135. 5 3/4" barrel retains 2 line New York address, recoil shields have been flattened, backstrap has been milled for a wire shoulder stock, hammer has been shortened but retains sighting notch, strikes on a floating firing pin in frame. CONDITION: Iron is a mottled brown with some silver on the high spots, brass is original with 10% silver wash, 1-piece walnut grips are excellent with a light oil finish over original varnish, serial numbers match.
