A) The border engraved frame feature engraved scrollwork on the sides with "KETLAND & C" engraved in a banner on the left side. A pair of British proofs are stamped ahead of the trigger guard, which features a floral engraving. One piece grip with thumb shield.

B) Manufactured circa 1800, possibly French in origin. The frame sides feature a military motif engraving and the trigger guard has a star burst engraving, with no maker markings. Slide bar hammer safety. The one piece grip features checkering on the sides near the frame and on the lower back edge extending to the butt, with the sides also having a raised oval featuring a silver wire inlaid pattern that is also featured near the upper tang.

A) Good. The pistol has a smooth gray patina, with some mild flash pitting. The grip is fine with some minor dings and scratches. The engraving is clear and crisp. Action needs work as the hammer does not hold a full cock position.

B) Good. The pistol has a smooth brown-gray patina. The grip is very good with exception of a minor crack near the frame (left side), with the very good checking having some minor bruising and a small absent chip. The engraving is clear and crisp. Mechanically fine.
