1) Tanto, 7 3/4 inch lightly curved blade with a wavy temper line, visible grain and a copper habaki. 4-lobed iron tsuba with brass inlays and copper spacers. Silver and gold accented hilt fittings with symbols on the kashira, brown cord wrap and floral menuki. Black lacquered saya, with blue and brown cord and a small gold accented kogatana, with a scene of a man chasing an animal on the handle. Also included in the display case is a white silk pouch with matching blue and brown cord. 2) Shirasaya mounted tanto, 6 5/8 inch blade with straight temper line and silver habaki. Plain fittings with contrasting wood caps, and a set of symbols painted on the saya.

Condition: 1) Very fine, with a strong temper line and well defined grain. The tsuba shows some spotting. Some material absent from the otherwise very good saya. 2) Fair, with scattered pitting on most of the blade, light scratches and fading of the temper line. Shirasaya is very good, with light dents.
