Two Federal Period U.S. Officer's Swords
1) U.S. officers sword, 1780-1790. The sword has a 25 1/4" slightly curved double fuller blade with 7" false edge. The blade has no makers marks. The nickel-silver hilt has a pierced counter guard, D-shaped knuckle bow, and urn-shaped pommel. The spiral black horn or ebony grip has a copper wrap. The sword is complete with a black leather scabbard. 2) U.S. Federal Period Officer's Sword with 32 1/2", curved single fuller blade with 5 inch false edge. The sword has a nickel-silver hilt with pierced counter-guard, D-shaped knuckle bow and urn-shaped pommel. The spiral pattern horn grip is wrapped with a copper band.

1) Good, the blade has traces of gold filled etched decorations, a dark patina on the blade, with light spotting. The blade is dark with moderate heavy pitting and traces of gold-filled etching on the ricasso. The hilt is in fine condition. The scabbard is in poor condition with a tape repair at the tip, missing meat throat and frog solid.2) Good, with pitting and a mixed dark patina on the blade, traces of the original decoration, a few dings along with an antique patina on the hilt and some chips and dings on the hilt. Sheath is poor, with tape repairs.
