1) This sword has a 33 1/4 inch 17th century blade with three short fullers. On one side of the blade in the center fuller is an unidentified stamp and on the opposite side at the end of the fullers is a large stamped face. The quillons extend 3 1/4 inches and have a roped bottom edge with a floral pattern on the ends. There is a leafy design on both sides near the center of the quillons. The grip is braided wire wrapped with several different metals. The large heavy pommel is decorated with geometric designs and what appears to be a torso on each side. 2) Measuring 44 inches overall, with a 36 inch double edged triple fuller blade, hexagonal cross-section, with scroll designs and light etching on the lower third of the blade, and a dished thumbrest on the base of the leading edge. 9 3/8 inch swept quillon crossguard, with an extension protecting the finger rest, a beaded side ring, scroll decorated leather covered "hand and a half" grip an a fluted pommel. Condition:
1) Good, the blade shows moderate pitting with a few small areas of oxidation. The shell guards are from a 17th century dagger. The guards and pommel have some minor pitting with some dings. The replacement wire grip has some minor wear overall. 2) Fair. The blade shows a number of leading-edge dents, with pitting and a mixed brown/gray patina on the steel. A thumb rest has been detached from the guard. Mild scuffing on the grip.
