Two Edison Motion Picture Show Albumen Photographs. 6.125" x 8.125". Lot of two pristine images depict not only the transition of motion pictures and still photography but also between motorized transportation and horse-drawn. These images capture an extraordinary period in American history, at the dawn of the 20th century, when technology was coming to the fore. Pictured in this lot is a traveling duo of movie and still photography commercial wagons, the pictures were taken in Riverside California, presumably around 1906. The pictures show that the wagons were offering a spectacular show, featuring a moving picture show which included a railroad scene and a cat fight, Edison's concert Phonograph- "The Largest In the World", and 150 stereopticon slides; many of California. A large cylinder phonograph is visible in the back of the automobile to which is attached a 5 foot long horn, obviously used to grab attention and viewers as they drove around. These pictures capture a delicate time when life was changing quickly from still to motion, from horse-drawn to motorized. A time that we will never see again. A wonderful lot, the likes of which may never been found at auction again! <r<r Condition-Photo #1- dime sized section of silvering just above the second trailer. Photo #2-light wear on corner mounts.
