complementary Trip Pass for the Nevada Stage Company, 2.5" x 4.5", Milton to Yosemite, Nov. 1, 1884. Two years later, Nevada Stage sold the Yosemite route to the Great Sierra Stage Company. Second is a Free Pass on the Minnesota Stage Company, 2.5" x 5", issued 1 Jan. 1868 and good through the end of the year. Issued to William C. Pierrepont, President of the Rome, Watertown and Ogdensburgh Railroad (New York). MSC held a near monopoly over stage lines in the mid-19th century in Minnesota. Unlike many of the western stage lines, which grew transporting gold (and other precious metals) and mail, the Minnesota line grew in part transporting furs from the Hudson Bay Company and other fur traders. Steamboats took a lot of the stage freight business in mid-century.
