Lot of 2 different. 1) Southern Arizona Mining & Milling Company. "Santo Domingo Mining District, Pima County, Arizona" printed to the right of mining vignette. Inc. in New York. No. 91, issued for 1700 shares to secretary ML Earle in 1881. Also signed president Wm. F. Turner. Not cancelled. Folds, a few stains. 2) Silver King Mining Company. "Location Pioneer District Pinal Co. Arizona" printed above title. No. 5036, issued for 50 shares to Geo. Grant in 1886. Signed by president Barney and secretary Joseph Nash. Not cancelled. Fancy design by AL Bancroft & Co. Folds, pinholes. About this time word of a great discovery at a new mine called the Silver King was being circulated. The 6 x 9' shaft only went down 42 feet with a 12 foot drift. But, "Great quantities of nearly pure silver is found in the little black nuggets of quartz" [Raymond] The company would go on to become one of the great mines in Western history. By 1883 it had paid $1,300,000 in dividends with an undisclosed amount after that! This is truly one of the great Arizona stock certificates.
