Lot of 2. 1) Brilliant Mining Company. Gold Hill Mining District, Storey County, Nev. (printed at bottom center).Inc. March 22, 1875. No. 571, issued for 250 shares to N.S. Stone in 1879 in San Francisco. Signed by president Robert Sherwood and JM Buffington, secretary. Not cancelled. Black border and print, birds-eye vignette of mine and mill. Lith. Britton & Rey, SF. 4 x 8.75" Folds, light toning. The mine was located on the Alta Company's Ledge north of the Boyle. A 3 compartment shaft has been sunk and a drift has been run in at the 1,000 ft. level from the New York Shaft. The claim is 1,481 ft. wide. The other two claims originally incorporated under the company are the Sherwood Cons. and Curtis Cons. [Ref: United States Annual Mining Review and Stock Ledger, 1879, pg. 177] 2) Pictou Mining Company. "Gold Hill Mining District" printed on either side of mining vignette. Issued in 1874 to Crandall for 50 shares. Signed by president AP Forbes and the secretary. Not cancelled. Britton & Rey. Folds, pinholes. Lies west of the Atlantic Mine. An "old location" that has been explored with a tunnel to intersect the ledge (Annual Ming Review & Stock Ledger, 1876).
