Two broadsides from Leadville. Includes a price list from grocer, Frank Cornforth & Co. with current prices, dated April 7, 1888. Prices such as eggs, butter, dressed game, poultry and vegetables are included, along with commentary about the direction of prices for these categories. On that day, eggs prices were declining while butter was scarce. A very interesting piece. The second broadside is from the Lake County Silver Club discussing the group's purpose, "To Use every Legitimate Means to Secure the Free Coinage of Silver". That dates this piece to the 1893-1896 timeframe as the "free silver" debate peaked around that time. "Silverites" wanted an expansionary monetary policy featuring the unlimited coinage of silver into money on demand, as opposed to strict adherence to the more carefully fixed money supply implicit in the gold standard. Condition is good. Small split at center top fold of grocery broadside with small chipping on top edge. View photos for condition.
