Lot of 2. 1) A colored pencil sketch of a stream-side mining scene: piles of river stones show claim locations and a long sluice box winds down into the stream. Reverse is blank except for pencil notation: "Mining Claim in Calveras County, California." Two pieces of small paper glued together to form one panoramic scene. Measures approx. 15 1/2" x 5" Condition: lots of smudges and soiling, especially on right and left. Lots of detail. 2) Smaller colored pencil sketch of another stream-side mining scene. This one shows a rocker setup. Back has pencil notation: "Rocker in Mining Claim, Calaveras County, California." Also writing in pen: "Jan 12 1881 left Freest (?) one back May 19th 1881."
