Model 1840 has a 36 inch double fuller blade, with "W.WALSCHEID/SOLINGEN" marked on the left ricasso. Brass 2-branch guard, with a helmet pommel and wire wrapped leather grip. With a metal scabbard. Model 1860 has a 35 inch double fuller blade, with the Ames scroll logo on the left ricasso and "US/GGS./1861." on the right. Brass 2-branch guard, with a wire wrapped leather grip.

Condition: Model 1840 is Fair, with pitting on the blade and a dark, mixed patina on the brass. Extensive pitting on the sheath. Grip is good. Model 1860 is Good. The blade is mostly bright with some scattered pitting and edge wear. The ames and inspection marks on the ricasso are sharp. The leather grip cover and wire wrap are replacements. Scabbard shows a mixed color, with pitting and dents. Grip is good.
