Lot of 3 beaded pieces:
a) Beaded pouch on native tanned hide, with floral beading on one side, 4 1/2" x 3".
b) Beaded drawstring pouch on native tanned hide. Beaded on both sides. 5" x 3".
c) Beaded awl case with banded beading along the top, salt and pepper, or scatter, beading on the tapered end. The flap has rows of alternating colors, and the tassel is beaded in stripes. 13” including tassels.

Provenance: John “Jack” H. Hawes (1877-1950) Collection, to descendants, to current owner.
Includes copy of signed letter from consignor attesting to the collection history and its acquisition.

Jack Hawes (1877-1950)
John H. Hawes was a travelling salesman out of Alliance, Nebraska. Employed first by Freemont Saddlery, which became Harpham Brothers Saddlery and Harness, Jack’s sales territory was comprised of historic cowboy and Indian areas, where he collected artifacts primarily between the 1890s and 1930s.
