A) The top flat is marked "E. HUTCHINGS & CO / AGENTS - BALTO", left barrel flat is marked "CAST STEEL" and the top of the frame has light engraving and is marked "GIBBS TIFFANY & CO / STURBRIDGE MASS" followed by an eagle motif. One-piece grip with a pointed butt and brass edging.

B) Rifled barrel, fixed sights, thumb plate escutcheon and lock marked "DERINGER / PHILADELa". Breech plug has an illegible marking. The hammer, round trigger guard, lock and upper tang are engraved. Stock has a German silver forend cap, single barrel wedge and checkered grip area.

A) Very good. The pistol has a mixture between a smooth gray patina and a smooth dark patina. The brass is fine with some minor pressure dents. The grip is very fine with some minor dings and scratches.

B) Good. The barrel has smooth brown patina turning to a smooth gray patina near the breech. The trigger guard has a smooth dark brown patina. The remaining surfaces have a smooth dark patina. There is some scattered minor spotting and some deep flash pitting, with some minor pitting near the muzzle. The restored stock is very good with some light handling marks. The recut checkering is crisp. The ramrod and ramrod pipe are missing.
