Two 1865 Editions of the New York Times with Accounts of Lincoln's Assassination. Includes Volume XIV, issue numbers 4235 and 4236, April 21 and 22, 1865, each issue 8 pages, 16” x 21”. These issues provide fascinating contemporary accounts of the days just after Lincoln's assassination and before the conspirators were captured. The stories include first-hand accounts of Lincoln's last hours, the attack on Secretary of State William Seward, and his son Frederick and the state of the nation in the hectic days just after Lee's surrender at Appomattox Court House. Both issues have some staining that doesn't affect the legibility of the text, each issue has fold creases but both are in remarkably preserved very good condition.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
