<Our item number 141522><B>Lincoln, Abraham And His Cabinet.</B> Volume containing twelve letters or documents, one each signed by Lincoln and the members of his Cabinet. The autographs were collected by American writer Eugene Field &#40;1850-1895&#41; The volume is titled &#34;Abraham Lincoln and His Cabinet. A Collection of Autographs. 1861-1865&#34; in gilt letters on the morocco blue covers, which have elaborate gold borders and spine.<BR>A Eugene Field bookplate on a front end paper has a holograph statement by Eugene Field II, dated Jan. 8, 1934, that the collection came from his father&#39;s library; a 1929 notarized statement on the back page is signed by Field II and Julia S. Field. Signed document or letters of each person are affixed at the left margin to a full page, most with engraved portraits on the preceding page. <BR><BR>The volume contains the following:<BR><B>Abraham Lincoln</B> War-date ANS &#40;&#34;A. Lincoln&#34;&#41;, 2x3¼ in., n.p., 26 March 1862. &#34;Hon. Sec. of Navy, please see Mr. Talmadge.&#34; Soiled but boldly written.<BR><B>Hannibal Hamlin</B> ALS, 1p, 8x5 in., Bangor, Me., 31 Mar. 1887, to Lieut Herbert Jenkins, extolling Hon. Tim. Jenkins, a former Congressional colleague.<BR><B>William H. Seward</B> ALS, 1p, 9¾x7¾ in., Washington, 7 Dec. 1851. To exiled Hungarian statesman Louis &#40;Lajos&#41; Kossuth offering hospitality and &#34;full sympathy with you in your zeal for the restoration of the liberties of your country.&#34; <BR><B>S.P.
