Confederate Cavalry Commander Turner Ashby abstract signed, ''Appr. [Approved] Turner Ashby''. Partially printed document is headed, ''The United States'' with ''United'' crossed out in ink and replaced with ''Confederate'' in handwriting, and is dated circa February 1862 from Winchester, Virginia. Here, Ashby approves the payment of $18.42 to Capt. Henderson for a pine plank used to make soldier bunks while on detached service. Document on one page measures 8'' x 10'' with docketing to verso. Near fine condition overall.
