Extremely rare color glossy 3.5 x 4.25 Polaroid photo of Tupac Shakur in a full-length pose with three members of the Outlawz crew, signed in the lower border in black ballpoint, "2Pac," and again in red ink, "Thinkin' of U, 2Pac." In the white borders Shakur dates the photograph, "Aug 19," and identifies the three other members: "Lil cousin, K–Dawgz," "(Godbrother) Lil Muu," and "(lil bro) Hollywood." Shakur adds to the lower right, "'Is there a Heaven IV a Thug nigga?'" In fine condition, with two pinholes to top and bottom edges. Consignor notes that this photo was sent to Simi Chouhan, a woman Shakur corresponded with while he was incarcerated in New York's Clinton Correctional Facility on a sexual assault charge. His album Me Against the World was released in March 1995, a month into his sentence, and made an immediate impact on the charts, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200. Tupac's confinement proved an important period in his artistic development as he took the time to read philosophical works including many by Niccolo Machiavelli, which inspired his pseudonym 'Makaveli.' A significant portrait of Shakur and the Outlawz, signed less than two months before his release from the Clinton Correctional Facility on October 12, 1995.
