2 framed documents, Tucson Booking Slip for George Joesph Shaughnessy, dated July 8, 1933. Arrested for Highway Robbery and murder of Lon Blankenship, Tucson automobile dealer. On the outskirts of Nogales, Blankenship picked up Shaugnessy as a hitchhiker enroute to Tucson. About nine miles out of Tucson, Shaughnessy drew his stolen .41 army gun and ordered Blankenship to stick up his hands. The latter reached over and grasped the revolver instead of sticking up his hands. Shaughnessy fired two shots at him, inflicting an eventual mortal wound. After dumping off Blankenship in the desert to die, enroute to Tucson, Shaugnessy lost control of the car and crashed near a service station. He was picked up by a driver and dropped off at a Tucson hotel, arrested the following morning and convicted and sentenced to die in the gas chamber. The lot includes an invitation to his execution by lethal gas to be carried out at 5 p.m. on July 13, 1934, at the Arizona State Prison in Florence. A fascinating piece of Arizona crime history. Measures 20"x14".
