Tsar Alexander I. of Russia, Pawlowitsch, 1777-1825, from 1801 Tsar and Emperor, Portrait Cup and Saucer, porcelain, Campana-shaped, bulging body w/ gilded interior merging w/ handle, exterior w/ gilt edging, gilt rosettes on matte gilt band w/ gilt wave pattern, strings of beads, and red stripes, turquoise fond w/ medallion cont. delicate polychrome painted portrait, framed by gilt decors w/ red stripes, saucer w/ ident. décor, centre w/ pink fond and gilt ligature monogram IA, undersurface w/ wide gilt edging, short ring-shaped stand, height: 8 cm, Ø 16,5 cm, KPM-Berlin, underglaze-blue sceptre mark ca. 1814, this portrait is most likely based on a miniature made during the Tsar's 1814 stay in Paris, (Ru).
