Complete 12-piece Full Set of Trumpet #1-12 (1965-1981) Science Fiction Fanzines in VF to VF+

Trumpet was one of the slickest, best, and most professionally designed science fiction fanzines of the 1960s and early 1970s. Tom Reamy (1935-1977) became active in science fiction fandom in the 1950s, co-founding the Dallas Futurian Society, the first post-war fan club in Texas. The club collapsed in 1958, after Reamy helped present Texas’ first sf convention, “Southwestercon VI.” Reamy was a professionally-trained technical illustrator, and he used the skills to make TRUMPET a slick-looking, professionally-printed publication. He was one of the founders of the “Turkey City Writers’ Workshop,” a writing group that included pros like Lew Shiner, Lisa Tuttle, Bruce Sterling and Howard Waldrop. After chairing the unsuccessful bid to bring the Worldcon to Dallas in 1973, Reamy joined the Kansas City Bid for 1976, and eventually relocated there when the bid won. He also started a promising career as a professional writer, and won the John W. Campbell award in 1976, but sadly died of a heart attack about 14 months later. TRUMPET ran for ten issues between 1965 and 1969; Reamy produced an 11th issue in 1974, but also began collaborating on the even-more-slick NICKELODEON with Donald Keller in 1976. After Reamy died, Ken Keller published a 12th issue of TRUMPET in 1981, using mostly material intended for NICKELODEON #3. Print-runs ranged from 500-1000 copies so these are far from easy to find, especially in higher grades, in a complete set as this!
