Harry Truman archive regarding the family's cemetery plot, including the original signed deed, dated 29 February 1892 from Jackson, Missouri. Truman and his wife were interred at the Truman Library in Missouri, otherwise he would have been buried here with various family members. His maternal grandmother, Harriet Louisa Young, purchased the plot for $100 in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Missouri from the Troost Avenue Cemetery Co. Her husband, Solomon Young, died shortly after this plot of land was purchased. Partially-printed document has a ''Forest Hill Cemetery'' header and details the purchase of Lot 85, Block 43, which today is still the Truman family plot, where many of his relatives are buried, including his parents. Signed by the Troost cemetery company president, secretary and a notarizer. Document has an embossed Troost Avenue Cemetery Co. seal, a notary seal and Recorder's office document affixed to verso. 1pp. deed measures 9'' x 12.25'' with minor toning throughout, particularly along edges, four holes punched along right edge, and three 1'' tears along folds. Lot also includes three notes written by Harry Truman, one signed, each relating to details of the family plot: (1) Autograph note signed in ink, ''Roni - Make a note in Mary's file where the deed to the cemetary [sic] is and in any other file in which we may look for it...'' Signed ''HST''. Note measures 5'' x 3''. (2) Unsigned note written in ink by Truman: ''Forest Hill Cemetary [sic]. About our lot. It is shut off. Ja. 3: 2114''. Measures 3'' x 5''. (3) Note written in pencil on a telephone message sheet, reading simply ''Forest Hill'' and ''Jackson [?] 3:2114'', measuring 3.25'' x 5.5''. Staple mark at top of each note and some minor toning. Also includes ten color photos of the plot headstones of various family members, each measuring 6'' x 4'. Overall very good condition.
