First edition of ''Adventures of Huckleberry Finn'' by Mark Twain with illustrations by E.W. Kimble. New York: Charles L. Webster and Company: 1885. First edition of the beloved classic that became the wellspring of American literary fiction. Hemingway once said of it, ''All modern American literature comes from just one book by Mark Twain called 'Huckleberry Finn.''' All but one first printing points present including: (1) heading for chapter 6 reads ''decided'' (later corrected to ''decides'') on page 9; (2) ''Him and another man'' listed incorrectly at page 88 (on page 13); (3) page 57, 11 lines from bottom, reads: ''with the was''; (4) ''Heliotype Printing Co.'' imprint is present on frontis; (5) on page 155, the second ''5'' is missing; (6) page 143: ''l'' missing in ''Col.'' (that is part of the illustration at the top line of text). This copy lacks the title page and there is some light rubbing to boards and foxing to endpapers. With some archival restoration to preserve condition, overall a presentable copy in very good condition.
