Triplett & Scott Repeating carbine, .50 cal., 22” round barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood stocks, #3045. This gun is in overall good condition showing an even light brown patina to barrel assembly with scattered light areas of erosion and pin prick pitting; the frame shows faint trace of case color and has “Kentucky” stamped on the left side of the cartridge chamber (issued to Home Guard troops), with a silvery finish mixed in with a dark patina on the receiver. The bore is good, the action crisp, the markings clear and the wood stocks are overall good with scattered nicks, mars and scratches from carry and storage. The wood butt stock around the unusual hidden loading tube is not cracked which is important as this design weakened this part of the stock and specimens of the Triplett & Scott carbine are often found with a crack on the lower left side of the wood. There is an old, well-repaired crack on the right side of the butt stock at the upper tang. A good example of this carbine and with the more uncommon 22” barrel. Est.: $750-$1,500.
